One evening long ago, I was at dinner with a friend and our conversation eventually turned to our favorite beauty blog, Into the Gloss. Founded by Emily Weiss, the blog is New York edgy meets the Bergdorf Goodman beauty department, in a word, it is a...dream. That's when my friend let me in on a little known piece of gossip: Into the Gloss would soon birth a beauty brand...Glossier. My friend then reached into her bag and produced a lighter brandished with the new logo. After making a faux pas and pronouncing the brand as, "Gloss-eee-er," (ahem - like wearing blue eyeshadow and frosted pink lipstick), I was swiftly corrected. "Oh no, it's Gloss-eee-ay!"
From that day on, the Glossier buzz was everywhere. Throughout the month of March, the Glossier office hosted weekend open houses at their showroom on Lafayette Street in Soho. I visited a few times and witnessed first-hand the rabid following the brand has amassed in such a short time. surrounded by an absurd number of pink peonies and white ranunculus (anyone who understands this reference wins a prize!) and bathed in rosy light, I fell under the Glossier spell, too.
One product I purchased, _Generation G in Jam ($18), has earned a faithful home in my makeup bag and is quickly becoming a standout, cult product amongst fellow beauty junkies. The unique formula is a matte lipstick and chapstick hybrid. There are four shades in all: two to enhance your natural lip and two that offer a bit more color saturation.
Cake (sheer nude), Like (sheer pink) both enhance your natural lip look. Crush (sheer fuchsia) and Jam (sheer berry) both work with your natural lip while amping up the color saturation
I dot Jam on for a quick, berry-stained look - no mirror needed. For an even deeper stain, a second coat can be applied. The effect is an effortless yet polished lip look that takes no time to achieve. Touchups are rarely necessary and when needed, re-application is a cinch. This is the lip product I reach for when I want to look like I'm not making an effort but *real talk here* I am always making an effort.
Try it (maybe in a shade other than Jam?) and tell me all about it!
